POSITION:

 

GROUP SCOUT LEADER

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
TO OVERSEE AND MANAGE THE SCOUTING SIDE OF THE GROUP,
TO SUPPORT AND ORGANISE TRAINING FOR ALL LEADERS AND HELPERS.
TO SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE THE GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IN ITS WORK IN SUPPORT OF SCOUTING.

 


DUTIES:

  • To be conversant with the Policy organisation and rules of the Scout Association.
  • To organise and facilitate Leaders and Helpers Meetings on a termly basis.
  • To attend Group Executive meetings and participate and support fund raising events.
  • To attend and support section leaders at meetings as required.
  • To attend District events and GSL meetings as required.
  • To complete any personnel training that may be required and gain a warrant.
  • To arrange through District Leader Training ADC any training that leaders and helpers may require.
  • To promote the group within the community and develop the scouting side for the benefit of our young people.
  • To recruit young people to the group and encourage adult help and leadership.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

BEAVER SCOUT LEADER

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
TO ORGANISE PLAN AND PROVIDE A FULL PROGRAMME AND RANGE OF ACTIVITIES.
TO ENSURE THAT THE BEAVER SECTION IS WELL REPRESENTED AT DISTRICT EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS.
TO PLAN AND ARRANGE A NUMBER OF OUTDOOR VISITS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

 


DUTIES:

  • To carry out any personal section training that may be required and obtain a warrant.
  • To be conversant with the Policy organisation and rules of the scout association.
  • To arrange section Leaders and Helpers meetings on a termly basis.
  • To establish a full and interesting programme for the weekly term time meeting.
  • To organise the section leaders and helpers to establish a strong team for the benefit of the young people.

ASSISTANT BEAVER SCOUT LEADER

  • To co-ordinate and Establish and maintain an accurate waiting list of perspective cubs if required.
  • To co-ordinate and keep accurate records of cubs attendance take subscriptions and pass to group treasurer for safekeeping.
  • To co-ordinate and keep Parents and Guardians fully informed of section activities as needed.
  • To keep accurate personnel record of each cub as required.
  • To make sure that the cub section is well supported at District and County Competitions. And to ensure that the cubs are well trained and adequately prepared for the competition.
  • To attend group leader, executive and district meetings and events as required.
  • To offer a full range of camping opportunities throughout the year and to arrange other outdoor pursuits as required.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

TO ENSURE THAT THE SCOUT SECTION IS WELL REPRESENTED AT DISTRICT EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS.
TO PLAN AND ARRANGE A NUMBER OF OUTDOOR CAMPING EXPERIENCES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.


DUTIES:

GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO CHAIR AND ORGANISE THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND FUNCTIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE GROUP AND OUR YOUNG PEOPLES SCOUTING.


DUTIES:
  • To Chair the monthly executive committee meetings.
  • To coordinate and produce the group annual report and present it for discussion at the group’s annual general meeting.
  • To Chair the annual general meeting.
  • To act as a signatory for the group bank accounts.
  • To establish a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • To endeavour to recruit a team of adults to assist you with the work of the executive committee.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE SECRETARY

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO BE THE CONTACT POINT FOR WRITTEN COMMUNICATION ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP EXECUTIVE.
TO WRITE AND RECORD MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS.
INVITE AND FORWARD AGENDA TO EXECUTIVE MEMBERS FOR MEETINGS.
FORWARD ANY OTHER CORRESPONDENCE THAT MAY BE REQUIRED.


DUTIES:
  • To act as the main point of contact for written communication to the group executive committee.
  • To write and forward any letters as needed on behalf of the group Executive Committee Chairperson.
  • To produce and forward an agenda to executive committee members on a monthly basis.
  • To write and record minutes of the monthly Executive committee meetings.
  • To assist the Chairman to produce the written annual report to parents at the annual general meeting.
  • To assist the chairman in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TREASURER


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO PAY INVOICES AND KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS OF THE GROUP FINANCES.


DUTIES:
  • To submit for payment any invoices of the group as required.
  • To reimburse as required any expenditure from members of the group and executive committee.
  • To keep accurate records of monies received by the group executive from fund raising events.
  • To record accurate records of subscription payments made to each of the scouting sections as required.
  • To explore any cost saving measures that may be available.
  • To oversee the group bank accounts and to ensure that the group finances are working for the best interest of the group.
  • To produce the written annual financial report at the annual general meeting.
  • To assist the chairman in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • To provide floats for fund raising events.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE DISTRICT REPRESENT


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO ATTEND AND REPORT BACK THE MATTERS RAISED AT DISTRICT EXECUTIVE MEETINGS


DUTIES:
  • To regularly attend the district executive meetings on behalf of the group.
  • To act as the groups voice on relative matters.
  • To report on matters that are discussed at district level to the group executive committee for our consideration.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

JOINT QUARTER MASTER

 



RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO ENSURE THAT ALL CAMPING EQUIPMENT IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS AVAILABLE TO THE GROUP WHEN REQUIRED.
TO KEEP A FULL INVENTORY OF THE GROUPS EQUIPMENT AND TO ENSURE THAT IT IS RETURNED IN GOOD ORDER.


DUTIES:
  • To keep a full inventory of camping equipment, to record any breakages and repairs that are required.
  • To arrange for equipment to be purchased, repaired and cleaned as required.
  • To provide prior to camps and out door activities the equipment that has been requested by the section leader.
  • To ensure that the equipment is returned in a good condition and that faults are remedied prior to return to the camp store.
  • To keep accurate records of expenditure.
  • To replenish the camp gas as requested.
  • To put forward ideas and requests to the executive committee for developing the range of equipment in line with the developing needs of our young people and their scouting.
  • To ensure that the best possible deal is found when purchasing equipment and canvas.
  • To assist the executive in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 


POSITION:

 

JOINT QUARTERMASTER

 



RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO ATTEND DISTRICT SPORTS MEETINGS AND REPORT BACK MATTERS TO EACH SECTION LEADER


DUTIES:

 

  • To regularly attend the district sports committee meetings on behalf of the group.
  • To act as the groups voice on relative matters.
  • To report on matters that are discussed at sports meetings to the group executive committee for our consideration.
  • To report the arrangements made for each sport event to the section leaders for their action.
  • To assist were possible the sports committee to organise and arrange district sports events and activities.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE HEADQUARTERS MAINTENANCE OFFICE


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO OVERSEE AND MANAGE THE MAINTENANCE OF THE HEADQUARTERS AND GROUNDS AND TO ACT AS THE MAIN EMERGENCY CONTACT.


DUTIES:
  • To keep a record of repairs that are needed.
  • To carry out a range of small minor repairs as required.
  • To keep accurate records of expenditure and forward receipts to the group treasurer for reimbursement.
  • To put forward ideas and recommendations to the group executive for improvements and developments of the headquarters facilities.
  • To arrange quotations from contractors for the executive committees consideration.
  • To arrange on a quarterly basis a parent headquarters maintenance day. Forward details to parents and ensure that equipment and materials are provided.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE HEADQUARTERS CLEANING OPERATIVE


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO CLEAN AND KEEP THE HEADQUARTERS AND GROUNDS IN GOOD ORDER TO ENSURE THAT THE FACILITIES MEET HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS


DUTIES:
  • To ensure that the headquarters is cleaned to a safe and hygienic standard.
  • To carry out a periodic deep clean of all rooms especially the hygiene areas and headquarters kitchen.
  • To ensure that the headquarters is kept tidy and well prepared for group meetings and activities as needed.
  • To ensure that the container is kept tidy and organised at all times.
  • To ensure that the grassed areas and grounds are maintained as required.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE GRANT AND FUND RAISING OFFICER


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO FIND SUPPORTING COMPANIES AND GRANT MAKING BODIES TO ENCOURAGE FUND DONATIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE GROUP.


DUTIES:
  • To seek out companies and grant giving organisations, to request grants as directed by the executive committee for equipment and developing needs of the group.
  • To write on behalf of the group a substantial range of requests for financial assistance.
  • To meet representatives of grant making bodies to support are request as required.
  • When received forward donations to the group treasurer.
  • To write to grant giving bodies thanking them for their support.
  • To arrange presentation and any publicity that may be needed.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

GROUP EXECUTIVE MEMBER


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO ATTEND MONTHLY AND SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE


DUTIES:
  • To attend monthly executive committee meetings.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

NEWS PAPER OFFICER


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO ATTEND MONTHLY AND SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
TO BUNDLE AND PREPARE THE NEWSPAPERS FOR COLLECTION


DUTIES:
  • To attend the monthly executive committee meetings.
  • To ensure that the waste paper is bundled ready for collection and that it is kept neatly in the container.
  • To arrange collection of the waste paper as required.
  • To forward money raised from the collection of waste paper to the group treasurer.
  • To keep a running total of money raised from waste paper for the group annual accounts.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

 

POSITION:

 

200 CLUB CO-ORDINATOR

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO OVERSEE AND MAINTAIN ACCURATE RECORD OF THE 200 CLUB MEMBERSHIP
TO AWARD MONTHLY PRIZES AND ORGANISE TWICE A YEAR THE 200 CLUB SUPPER BINGO EVENINGS


DUTIES:
  • To administer an accurate record of 200 club annual donations.
  • To write to each member reminding them that there 200 club donation is due.
  • To receive payments of donations, record them and forward the money to the group treasurer.
  • To arrange for the monthly draw to take place ensure that any winners receive their prize and keep a record of the names and membership numbers of the prizewinners.
  • To arrange twice a year the 200 club bingo supper evening and special prize draw.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

TO ATTEND MONTHLY AND SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
TO ADVERTISE THE WORK OF THE GROUP AND ACTIVELY ENDEAVOUR TO MAKE IT KNOWN THAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE ADULT HELP.


DUTIES:
  • To place around the community a range of advertising notices and posters requesting for adult leader and lay help to support our scouting work.
  • To arrange publicity through local radio and television and newspapers showing our case for the need for adult help.
  • To approach parents and other supportive adults for the need for them to support there young people in scouting.
  • To be the contact point for those showing an interest in helping us with our work.
  • To meet with the group scout leader those interested in joining with us to find if they would be suitable for our service.
  • To carry out an on going recruitment exercise of local schools to help us recruit new young people to scouting.
  • To attend monthly executive committee meetings.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.

TO PRODUCE AND MAINTAIN A GROUP WEB PAGE TO PROMOTE THE WORK OF THE GROUP.


DUTIES:

  • To produce and maintain a quality webb site promoting the work of scouting overall and the activities of the 22nd Southampton west scout group and its various sections and committees.
  • To gain information from leaders and group executive officers for use on our webb site.
  • To act as the initial contact point of the group on behalf of e mail contact .
  • To forward e mail as requested.
  • To attend monthly executive committee meetings.
  • To assist the committee in establishing a full range of fund raising activities to fund the general running costs and overall development of the group’s activities, equipment and headquarters.
  • Any other duties that may be required within the purview of the post.
